I love Fall.
The changing of the seasons always feels like a rebirth to me, but Fall especially. It’s finally cooling off, the leaves start to change, there are all sorts of fun things to look forward to.
On the way to work this morning I starting thinking about Fall and how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place. It hit me that we spend so much time looking at what’s right in front of us that we don’t take time to see the bigger picture. I’ve lived in the same area of Alabama my whole life, and worked at my current job for 4 years. So every work day for 4 years I’ve driven the same route to work. I spend so much time thinking about the tasks of the day, what I have to get down, what I didn’t do yesterday, what needs doing tomorrow, that I had forgotten how beautiful and peaceful that 15 minute ride to work really is. As I crested the last hill right before you get into town, I noticed that out in the distance you can see the steeple of the church that’s in the middle of downtown. A lifetime and 4 years of coming into town this way everyday, and I just noticed this. Something amazing happen. The felt the knot in my stomach release. The knot that I didn’t even realize I had.
This rebirth season, I’m going to slow down and enjoy the ride. Snuggle with my girls more, and stop worrying about what needs to get done. My littles won’t be little forever and I rather look back years from now and remember the joy and fun I shared with them in our dirty house, over how the dishes and laundry were always done.
So slow down, enjoy the change and step back and take in the bigger picture today. Then go snuggle with your loved ones.
Until next time,
