Day 29 ~ A number…

Day 29
Because any number with % off behind it is awesome! lol
On another note, I know I’m an awful blogger. I’ve got about 5 weeks (maybe 6) to finish up a big project at work before I go on leave. Posts may be scarce in the next few weeks, but I will keep y’all updated on our nursery project!
Much love!!

This Moment…

{this moment} – A Friday ritual. A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Day 23 ~ Technology…

Day 23
Yeah, bad photo I know. This is the technology that I use the most on a daily basis. This is also what it currently looks like when I’m using it at home…Propped up on my ever growing belly!
Short and sweet today. I have some projects in the works, so stay tuned.

Making up for lost time…

So I’ve been MIA for the last couple of days. My baby cousin graduated from High School Sunday. She was Valedictorian of her class! I am so proud of her. We threw her a graduation party that night, so I was just a little tied up this weekend.

So here is what I missed….

Day 19 ~ A favorite place…

Mexico Beach, FL
This is one of my favorite places! My grandparents have a place down there, and I’ve spent many a long weekend hanging out on the beach. ♥
Day 20 ~ Something I can’t live without…
Adam, my husband. I love him dearly, and he jokes sometimes when he can’t seem to find his wallet or his belt or his keys, that he doesn’t know what he would do without me. Honestly, I don’t know what I would do without him. I hope with we forever feel that way about each other. 🙂
Day 21 ~ Where I stand…
Yup, could have gone a few ways with this one. But this is literally were I “stand” about 99% of my time…At my desk in my office! ;p Notice the nice puffy feet, the only shoes I can wear now are flip flops!
Day 22 ~ Pink!
Because there’s nothing cuter than a little munchkin in a pink dress!
So that catches me up a little! I posted the pictures, even if I didn’t meet my deadlines! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far.
Until next time,
Jess ♥

Day 18 ~ Something I’ve made…

Day 18 ~ So I’m addicted to Pinterest… I know a lot of other people are too. People that have way more time than I do. Haha.
So today’s post is of something I’ve made. I found this project and this project on Pinterest and knew immediately that I just had to try it. Little did I know that it would turn into the project from hell. Ok, so it wasn’t really the project from hell, and I did have a ton of fun doing it. It just took WAY longer to finish than I ever imagined….
My adventures in coffee filter flower making.
It started innocently enough, I wanted to make a coffee filter flower wreath for my mother-in-law’s birthday. The project was really super easy, and I thought to myself, “I’ve got this, I can totally knock this out in one weekend!” So I started on the Friday evening before the said birthday. I unfortunately did not get any pictures of the filter dying process, but instead of hand painting like the second tutorial suggested, I used the “dunk in a cup” method. I put the desired amount of paint in a cup, added some water and stirred. Then put three to four filters in each cup, squeezed all the water out, and laid them out to dry.
Saturday once the filters were dry I started making flowers. And making flowers, and making flowers….
and making flowers….
Sunday evening rolled around and I was no where near done. I *tried* to work on them in the evenings during the week, but working full time, taking care of a house, chasing a toddler and being pregnant, doesn’t usually leave me with a lot of energy in the evenings.
I eventually finished all the flowers the next weekend and started gluing them to the foam wreath that I had purchased from Hobby Lobby. It was the largest foam wreath that Hobby Lobby offers by the way. Only to realize that I wasn’t going to have anywhere near enough flowers to cover the entire thing! o_O
So after some measuring and conferring with Adam I cut the wreath down and glued it back together. I got down to about a 2 inch section of the wreath and RAN OUT OF FLOWERS! I had bought two 200 packs of coffee filters to start with, and dyed one entire package. It takes 3 filters to make one large flower, I did make a few one and two filter flowers as well, so I had made close to 70 flowers to start with. I was just defeated by this point.
I ended up having to dye more filters the NEXT weekend, and make MORE flowers (yes at this point it had taken me three whole weekends to finish this stupid thing), and eventually finished up the wreath.
The colors are really a little more muted than this, the lighting was awful when I took this shot.
I think it turned out well, for all the trouble it caused me, and mom-in-law eventually received her birthday present. 🙂
I few weeks later, my mother and I were asked to do a project for one of my cousin’s weddings, which also involved coffee filter flowers. Without missing a beat, I said “Sure, we can do it no problem!” I was later kicking myself in the butt for saying this, but I think that it turned out very well, and I made my deadline that time!
I still have dyed filters left over from this one. I made sure that we didn’t run out of flowers like I did with the wreath. Adam recently asked me what I was going to do with them…Let’s just say I won’t being making flowers anytime soon. 🙂
What are some our your projects from hell? Or some of your favorite projects??

Day 17 ~ Snack

Day 17 ~ Hey I’m more than halfway there, and I’ve only missed a few!
Snack ~ This is a pregnant women’s dream! Well, at least this pregnant women. Most of what I’ve craved with both of my pregnancies has been mostly healthy. Fruits and veggies, water, milk, but I just can’t get past the sweet tooth sometimes. This was the first time I’d seen this “trail mix”, so I had to try it. I have to admit though, that while it’s very tasty, I’m probably going to end up with a bag full of pretzels and almonds. 😉
What is your go to snack?

Day 16 ~ What I’m reading…

Day 16
I’ve actually read this book about three times already. I started and stopped it a few times before I finally finished it and just had to have more. Then immediately ran out and bought the next book in the series. It’s been a few years since I finished the last book in King’s Dark Tower Series, and I recently got a wild a hair to re-read them. I’m about half way through this one…again. 🙂
What is a book or book series that you could read over and over? Or are you one of those that once it’s read that’s it??

May Photo Challenge Day 15 ~ Love…

There are of course a lot of things in my life, that I love or that symbolize love for me. My family of course, my husband and daughter, and my extended family. The new little one still growing inside of me. Our fur babies, they were of course our first “children”. But as I was laying in bed this morning I realized one of the things I REALLY love at the moment, are those quiet little moments that seem so mundane, but are really the little blessings in disguise that we all long for.

Adam is a much lighter sleeper than I am, so he is usually the first one up in the morning. I put Scarlett to bed and he gets her up in the mornings. They will usually cuddle up in the recliner in the living room and watch cartoons together, but sometimes he brings her and puts in her the bed with me.

We’ll cuddle up and watch whatever happens to be on at the moment, and spend a few quiet moments just enjoying each other before the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives start.
I thought for a long time that we might never have children. In fact Adam and I had decided that we wouldn’t when God surprised us with this wonderful little miracle. I can’t imagine my life without her now. I know now that I was put on this earth to be this little girl’s mommy. She has blessed our lives in so many ways. I can’t help but stop and just enjoy these little moments, because we all know they will be gone before we know it.
Happy Tuesday everyone! ♥ What is something that you love? What are your quiet little moments that you can help but stop and savor?

Day 14 ~ Grass

Day 14
Grass, so this one was a little weird, but when we pulled into our driveway this afternoon I knew this was the picture. I always loved driveways where the grass grows up the middle, like a well worn path. I love coming home!
So I know that I’ve really been slacking the past couple of days, but I promise to be a better blogger. 🙂 Besides, I’m sure you got enough Mother’s Day posts yesterday.
